A Century of Harley Davidson Legacy

A Century of Harley Davidson Legacy
By Low Jeremy

The beginning of the Harley-Davidson Motor Company in 1903 was very impressive. The founders, Bill Harley and Arthur Walter Davidson, began at a prototype with a small engine- so weak that it cannot conquer the Milwaukee hills. But, all things must have started from small beginnings. And that was exactly what happened to the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Schoolboys, as they can be considered, Bill and Arthur may have been born to give contribution to the motor industry.

The concept of the first Harley-Davidson motorcycle was very advanced at that time considering that fact that these two individuals were living in the period where horses were still the main form of transportation and automobiles were still developing. Bill and Arthur lived in an era where motorcycles were still in infant stage. What was more surprising was that, Bill and Arthur were still too young to be founders of a company then.

The prototype may be considered a success but could not produce more power to be efficient in hills. As resourceful as they were, Bill and Arthur made stronger engines that produced more power and speed.

That very same year, Harley-Davidson made its very first sale. Two years later they had made 11 motorcycles. And in 1908, they had made 154.

As the years went by, the company had produced and sold more and more units. Harley-Davidson, which started at a small backyard of a modest home, grew to become a motorcycle empire in a very short span of time.

Innovations after innovations and awards after awards, Harley-Davidson Motors had increased its reputation as the leader in the motorcycle industry.

Harley-Davidson was one of the 2 motor companies that had been commissioned to mass-produce motorcycles for the government to be used for First World War and the Second World War as well.

Within the 100 years of the companys existence, they had been challenged with so many trials. The companys sale went off in some periods but they regained on the next. The companys quality had been compromised but they had regained it. And like the toughness of the motorcycles they built, the company had remained tough.

After more than a century of motorcycle manufacturing, Harley-Davidson is among the most sought after motorcycle brands around the world. They have created several models that are truly world-class. Harley-Davidson will continue to manufacture quality motorcycles that are indeed an exiting machine to ride.

Finding A Classic Car For Sale

Finding A Classic Car For Sale
By Harvey Ong

Car collectors come in all shapes and sizes, not to mention demeanors and habits. Some collectors are content with one or two treasured pieces in their collection. Others, however, are more voracious and want to have as many as they can afford in their garages. The latter category always seem to be looking for that a specific classic car for sale; something they don't have but want to add to their ever-expanding collections. A classic car for sale is not all that hard to find, especially now that there are hundreds of classic car listings and websites for a prospective buyer to look through.

The first place to look when one seeks a classic car for sale is, naturally, online. There are several websites that cater to this market, each one having extensive listings of classics for sale, including such models as the 1971 Dodge Challenger 383, or the 1966 Ford Bronco. Most websites that cater to the classic car market have special options in their search system to help narrow down the results. Typically, these take the form of additional parameters, such as what year the car was made, which manufacturer is preferred, the location of the seller, and the zip code. These options help prospective buyers to find exactly what they are looking for at the budged that they have. For the most part, the ads on websites have pictures of the car being put on sale, in order to attract more potential buyers and show that the car is, indeed, in good aesthetic condition.

For those who have more time on their hands, the classic car for sale websites usually have their own real-world counterparts. These counterparts generally take the form of classified ads or magazine-like listings that collectors can subscribe to. The core of the concept is still there, though there are a few minor differences. One obvious difference is that these listings do not have the search feature that is so prominent on websites. The system the listings make use of is made as simple as possible by listing the cars alphabetically. However, the listings still include all the details that the sellers provide them, which includes pictures, for the most part. Other bits of common information between the two are contact information for the seller, the asking price, the make and model of the car, and the general condition of the car. Optional pieces of information are how many times it has been driven, the mileage accumulated, a general summary of the car's history, and any other piece of information that the seller may choose to divulge in the ad. One drawback of the listings is that they are not as up-to-date as their website counterparts are, due mainly to the nature and differences of the two different media involved.

Regardless of which method a collector uses, a classic car for sale is still something that he will seek out. There are as many people out there willing to give up their prized Impala or Cadillac as there are willing to pay good money to take it off their hands. It may take some time looking but eventually, if a classic car for sale is what you're looking for, you will inevitably find it in one listing or another.

Your Tuned Scooter Will Make You a Fashion Statement

Your Tuned Scooter Will Make You a Fashion Statement
By Terry Price

If you're considering a 250 cc scooter, there are numerous great manufacturers to choose from. With myself being a major, big Suzuki fan, I can attest to having total satisfaction with Suzuki products for many years. I've had cars, snowmobiles, motorcycles and numerous RV products designed by Suzuki and in my opinion, you can't buy anything better. However this article is not designed to sell you on a specific brand but to give you some tips about the purchase of a 250 cc scooter, and specifically about the verucci scooter. Either way you look at it, the scooter is a great investment when it comes to a transportation alternative. With the skyrocketing costs of petroleum, and especially if you're on a limited budget like a lot of people, scooters are a wise choice for many people. In fact, a lot of people prefer their scooters to be as fast as motorcycles, and if you purchase a tuned scooter, you will be amazed at how smooth the ride as well as the overall handling capabilities. Complete with liquid-cooled engines, multi-passenger carrying capabilities, four-stroke engines, automatic transmissions and chokes, front windshields, side stands, centers stands and side mirrors, you're sure to be impressed with the accessory line-up as well.

Verucci scooters have an interesting background, world-renowned as a manufacturer and direct distributor of numerous, different-sized scooters, including the 250 cc scooter. They distribute scooters worldwide and have many branches, including Venezuela, Mexico, Spain, and others. Their scooters are designed and perfected in the United States and Italy, and they have joint- venture manufacturing agreements in place with different suppliers. They also have three factories around the globe that can offer, you the consumer, a good quality scooter. Scooters are a personal choice, and it all depends on what is important to you. You may choose power and economy over style and looks, or vice versa. If you're looking for a tuned scooter, this Italian- made gem can offer you years of manufacturing expertise, as well as a huge assortment of motor sports apparel, including such items as sports watches, goggles, helmets, gloves, and more. If you're a racing fan or just simply want to make your scooter go faster, a tuned scooter is your answer. If you're looking for performance parts, the Internet in your ultimate resource as well. If you need a special part for your scooter, you're going to be able to find that online and most retailers can ship it to your doorstep, fast and easily. Verucci scooters have a motto that says, a symbol of freedom, independence, youthfulness of spirit, and creativity! Experience the difference!

You're going to find that when you order a scooter online, you will not have the option to physically sit on it or inspect it the way you would like. But most units come fully or partially assembled, some fold up and are lightweight. There are many options and many answers for cheap and reliable transportation when it comes to scooters. You'll find, in a lot of cases, that all you have to do is add mirrors and a battery. Obviously, with the extra power that the 250 cc scooter can offer you, you are going to be able to glide along the highways at speeds of 60 mph and faster. Such specifications as wider wheelbases, better compression ratios, the option of either kick or electric start, gas mileage of 80 to 100 miles per gallon, great top end speed, the list of advantages with scooters can go on and on. If you live in an urban center, small town or village, or even large city, a scooter can be an economical way of getting to the grocery store or your place of employment at a fraction of the cost that a normal vehicle offers.

Your Worst Driving Nightmare! Driving Instructor in Ireland Reveals the Secrets of Gallic Charm

Your Worst Driving Nightmare! Driving Instructor in Ireland Reveals the Secrets of Gallic Charm
By Robin Piggott

One of the first articles we published in 2005 commenced the story of a little Gallic number and the horrors of being on the receiving end of a Monday Morning car, or perhaps it was a Friday afternoon example and Les Franais were about to demonstrate their Rugby prowess by annihilating their favourite enemy thereby emptying the Factory in record time.

Either way it didnt make much difference because in all the years of Automotive History there has never been such a car! However if anyone after reading this current chapter can beat the list of faults and eclipse the dissatisfaction rating, we will be glad to hear from them. We might even publish it on our Garage Horror Stories Archive on the Web Site! You are going to have to come up with something the equal of Frankenstein meets Alien or you are simply not at the races! Actually we never got to the races because with just 70 miles on the clock on day two the car went into self destruct mode and refused to take us any further!

Sadly, the Main Dealer who supplied this poorly constructed example of Automotive construction at its worst, had not been attending the Classes for Irate Customer Retrieval which are run regularly throughout the Autumn and Winter months when Car sales are a little slow and well, the Certificate of Attendance looks good on a C.V. ! We are talking here about the little list of accomplishments that accompany Job applications and Career advancement not the enigmatic and thoroughly charming Car of the same name by a certain French Car maker! Perhaps if we had purchased a little C.V. (although few examples existed at that time) we wouldnt be writing this current chapter of the saga!

Still Life is full of Surprises and even fuller when it comes to parting with hard earned cash for those money eating, brain numbing, heartbreaking bits of Technology with the four little black bits that go round and round. (Phrase courtesy of Gary Anderson who for those of you not familiar with Motor Sport is a Formula One Designer and now fascinating Commentator)

Classes in dealing with all kinds of upset Car customers should be mandatory for all Car Sales Personnel and should be paid for by the Manufacturers. After all, without the Car Salesman, the Manufacturers would have a helluva lot of inventory to shift and since they created the problems in the first place it seems only fair that they should solve them dont you think?

After the first few return visits to the said Dealership as parts imploded, shut down or just plain fell off, it was obvious that an early warning alarm system had been hurriedly cobbled together to announce our proximity! When someone did have the unfortunate experience of facing us head on, there were the usual expressions of incredulity and amazement that such a car could possibly be giving trouble. Oh we never have any problems with this model or You have been spectacularly unfortunate with this Car and so onAs anyone will tell you, the fact (disputable!) that no one else is having problems with a particular car or that you have been unlucky, doesnt do anything at all to ease your own particular pain. In fact I think it makes things worse if anything!

What was sadly lacking but all too common was the need to appreciate that when things go wrong Hell they gotta get fixed and Pronto AND with a smile AND some suitable apologies. Then and maybe only then a Customer might be saved for another day. But what the heck we dont need to bother with customers OR their problems weve got a never ending queue of victims waiting to part with their cash for the latest model thats been well advertised on T.V. so why worry?

I think this must be the derivation of the commonly used phrase now No Worries Picture the Car salesman viewing the queue of Customers waiting at the door come opening timeall he has to do is chant the personal mantra quietly to himself No Worries and all will be well . Did you ever hear of a Car Salesman being lynched?

The gruesome details would make a grown man weepI should know I was there! Do you want the shortened version or the Directors Cut? The fully unexpurgated version will be available shortly on the web site but it is being digitally enhanced as we speak so here are just a few titbits to keep you amused:

Week One All Electrics Down No Can fix! Temporary replacement for booked holiday!

Month One Front Shock Absorber ceases to Absorb! Head Mechanic says there is no problem. Delighted when after insistence by customer that car be looked at there is a problem after all! Customers dont know squat about Cars! Thats what you think!

Month Six Steering Rack decides not to Steer any more! Why should the Shocks have all the fun? Obviously didnt like the way I took our local corner every day on two wheels! No Part available in Ireland so Coffee and Croissants for four days while car waits patiently on the rack! Its a bit like the Spanish inquisition only French! Driving skills becoming atrophied through lack of use!

Month EightAccelerator Cable decides all this speed is just too much for comfort and just like that Snaps. Bank Holiday weekend ends in confrontation with Lady Friend and a Taxi home and complete misery.

I think thats enough to be getting on with dont you?keep your ear to the ground for further instalments!

Checking Your Car

Checking Your Car
By Kum Martin

Heres the low down on checking out the used car that you have finally set your eyes on. Take a look at the following points before you decide to take it out on a test drive.

Lean down and look down the side of the car check for dents and dimples.Check the bumper cars for scratches and look at the wheel hubs for dents and scratches.

Is the car too shiny? This may mean that the car dealer or seller or trying to hide something. This also implies to the engine bay, an engine bay should be slightly dusty and have grime on it. If the engine is sparkling clean you can be sure that the car has oil or coolant leaks.

Take your hand and run it under every door panel, under the wheel-arches and check the bumper edges. These are the likely areas where rust will first appear.

Check the tires on the car. Check not only the thread, also check to see if the tires are original or retreads. Uneven wear is a telltale sign of suspension problems.

Does the interior smell? Smoke smell will have smoke stains on the fabrics and the smell will be embedded in the ventilation filters. A musty smell may indicate water leakage.

How does the seat upholstery, pedals and console wear look? Does it look appropriate to the cars mileage?

Press every button on the console and make sure the function works. Listen for any rattles in the console and ventilation fans. Turn off the engine then switch it to AC to check the engine and onboard computer warning lamps are working properly.

Turn on the hazard lamps, headlamps and press the brake pedal. Ask your friend to inspect the exterior lighting to ensure that all are working properly especially the brake lamps.

Now take the car on a test drive. Listen intently, look at the warning lamps, feel the steering and handling, sniff for any smells open the window and listen for engines ticks, rattles or fluid smells that may come for the warming engine bay.

Youth ATV Ramps

Youth ATV Ramps
By Marsha Maung

Youth ATV Ramps have come a long way, I would say because I remember, once upon a time, youth ATV ramps used to weigh a ton and cost a fortune! People used to be able to haul their ATVs to and from places without the use of a ramp for a long time mainly because the cost of a Youth ATV Ramp during those times was quite heavy. Not so now. There are so many different types of Youth ATV Ramps in the market to suit everyones needs that youre literally spoilt for choice these days.

Add that extra leg with a youth ATV ramp

To most of us ATV enthusiasts today, a youth ATV ramp is like a pair of irreplaceable legs! The use of an ATV ramp is indescribeable because not only is it convenient, its also light, compact and easy to carry around. Not to mention, theyre really quite cheap these days. So, every family who has someone who is interested in ATV riding should have a youth ATV ramp ready to use.

Secure and Simple design youth ATV ramps

It doesnt take a lot of space to store a youth ATV ramp because most of the youth ATV ramps today are made to accommodate small storage spaces. With their innovative design, youth ATV ramps are usually very compact, collapsible and is easy to lug around. All you have to do is to fold it up when you want to transport it, stick it into the trunk of your vehicle and then unfold it when you need to use it.

Its not heavy, its my youth ATV ramp.

Were referring to a general youth ATV ramp. When folded up, the youth ATV ramp is about 39 x 22 x 75. But when its unfolded, it could be about 45w x 75! And dont be fooled by the size and weight of it, a good youth ATV ramp can handle up to 4,000 lbs. Its almost like a mouse lifting a lion with a finger!

No slip security on modern Youth ATV ramps

Because its so light and convenient, its easy to assume that youth ATV ramps are not secure or even unsafe. Dont be fooled. Latest youth ATV ramp designs comes with a raised lip so that the ramp wont slip when your ATV is on it. Wouldnt want that to happen. And to make it even safer to use, the youth ATV ramps usually have support rings placed very close to each other. This is to ensure that the wheels on your ATV wont slip or get caught!

With so many features and advantages of using a Youth ATV ramp, its easy to see why most ATV enthusiasts have at least one handy.
